Education.

  • Sponsor a Student

DBCF Uganda has set up over 40 sponsorships of students in primary and secondary schools as well as seminary. Tuition for each trimester in primary school is $120.00 USD or $360.00 annually. In Secondary School, it is $130.00 or $390.00 annually. We will match you as a sponsor to a child or young person and you can be assured of making a profound impact in his/her life! Many Ugandan village children never start or never complete their schooling and since Covid, most have fallen woefully behind. Be a part of the solution!

  • St. Mary's School and St. Kizito Primary School

Individual DBCF donors, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Boise, Idaho, and Church Builder’s International, built St. Mary’s School, a secondary school which educates 130 + students and includes a science center. This new school is accredited and already has been honored as a top ranking school. In 2019, DBCF began building St. Kizito Prtmary School’s first four rooms and latrines. In 2022, St. Kizito Primary School opened its doors to 48 children.. In 2023, playground equipment was installed.. In 2023 a capital campaign enabled us to build a brick addition of four new classrooms, modern restroom facilites, and a staff room. Enrollment stands at 112 children as of February 2024. A not-for-profit school, St. Kizito relies upon DBCF’s support to meet its operational costs.

  • St. Dominic Savio School Fund

Many of our students are able to pay some, but not all, of what is required for tuition. If you’d like to help to pay partial tuition for students who will not be able to enroll without aid, please consider making a donation to our general fund, named for one of St. John Bosco’s favorite students, the great boy Saint, Dominic Savio! 130.00 pays a trimester of tuition, but EVERY dollar counts! This fund is always in need of replenishment and is disbursed each trimester.

  • Library Fund

Are you a book lover? We are currently raising funds to purchase books and start a library for our Primary School, St. Kizito. Someday, we will be able to build an actual library space for our students! With financial donations, we will make the purchase for you and make our library dream come true. We’d love to purchase children’s Bibles for all of our students!

Economic Development.

  • Cottages for Rent

DBCF recently completed the construction of three cottages in Masindi which will be open for rental by passing travelers and visiting tourists or missionaries. This created job opportunities for local Masindi villagers and the profit from the rentals will help fund further charitable endeavors of the Foundation. Consider visiting Don Bosco Traveler’s Inn!

  • Agricultural Projects

With the help of generous individuals, DBCF Uganda has begun farming projects which help to feed hungry families and school children, provide jobs for local villagers, and provide income to fund our charitable projects. We grow crops and have recently started a Goat Farm, a Piggery and Poultry farm, and a Dairy farm. Contributions to these projects go toward increasing the number of animals, to their feed, and to payment of those employed to work on these farms.

  • Foster Care

DBCF Uganda cares for a number of young people who are orphaned and rely on the support of donors for room and board while also working at small jobs such as gardening and upkeep of facilities. Also, there are numerous grandmothers who are caring for grandchildren whose parents succumbed to HIV/AIDS. DBCF strives to create economic opportunities for persons in these situation as well as directly supporting their educational and housing/boarding needs.

  • Small Business Creation/Support

DBCF Uganda seeks to encourage and support men and women who wish to begin small businesses in order to support their families. Aside from creating opportunities in building, farming and hospitality through the Foundation, we have also raised funds to help entrepreneurial individuals start food stands, clothing businesses, sewing services, and rabbit and chicken farming.

Family Health.

  • Masindi Love Project

The Masindi Love Project was begun in 2020 as DBCF Uganda Founder Fr. Andrew Katende recognize that the Sugar Cane processing plant which had employed a majority of people in the village suddenly closed, displacing the workers and leaving families starving and without economic opportunity. Masindi Love Project represents our response of bringing emergency food and supplies to struggling families there.

  • Emergency Medical Assistance

DBCF Uganda is very often asked to help desperate families with loved ones in need of emergency care. Broken bones, malaria, severe injuries, pregnancy care, cancer treatments, etc., are all costly. Help us provide emergency transportation and to defray hospitalization and surgery costs.

  • Food, Clean Water, and Supplies

DBCF Uganda ministers Carol and Maria do constant community outreach in Hoima and Masindi and often discover individuals and families who have little to nothing to eat, nothing to sleep on, and/or no access to clean water. We accept donations for food, mattresses and bedding, water wells and tanks, sanitary pads, wheelchairs, and medicine as needed.

  • Evelyn Memorial Health Center

Together with the generous help of Church Builders Incorporated (CBI), we have finished building a Maternal Health and Family Well-being clinic in memory of Evelyn, a beloved young mother of two, who passed away during the birth of her third child. Villages in rural areas have no access to emergency health care and this project will help tremendously in remedying that need. Thank you for helping us finish it so that mothers and their families can have the medical help they require.

Spiritual Care.

  • Masindi Christmas Project

The Masindi Christmas project was started in order to ensure that the children and families of Masindi would experience the love of Christ and find hope in Him at this holy and festive time. Last year, DBCF Uganda provided DBCF t-shirts and a delicious meal and party for needy families as well as other small gifts to help mark the Birthday of our Savior. We plan to make Masindi Christmas an annual project with your help.

  • Promote Christian Faith with Biblical Family Values

DBCF Uganda schools and its ministers of mercy, Fr. Katende, Carol and Maria Dianah, strive to teach children and families about Christ, his love and mercy, and his Church. They do this through encouraging celebration of the sacraments, study of scripture, and of the Catechism. DBCF also provides moral guidance and services to couples, families and youth.

  • Masses, Sacraments

Fr. Katende lives and tends to parishioners at St. Charles Llwanga Parish, Kahunde. For DBCF, he travels and ministers to parishioners in Kiryanjagi and the Masindi village of Kabango. He travels to give spiritual care and support to the elderly, to students, and to families, bringing the Sacraments to those in need and encouraging the faithful to avail themselves of the Holy Sacraments of the Church.

  • Liturgical Feast Celebrations

DBCF Uganda organizes Masses and celebrations honoring the Blessed Mother and our Patron Saint, John Bosco, as well as other Saints throughout the year. Food and beverages and small gifts often accompany those events. Our Easter Celebrations are especially festive as we try to provide a special meal for this highest of the holy feasts.
